Richard Dighello is elected to serve on the Boards of the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain and Friendship Service Center

Firm Shareholder Richard Dighello was recently elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain and the Friendship Service Center.

The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain is a 501(c)(3) public charity and one of the oldest community foundations in the nation. It is one of the first community foundations in the country to comply with the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations, and the only community foundation in Connecticut to have attained Platinum Level Participation status from Guidestar, the Internet’s premier source of nonprofit financial and program accountability information.  Since 1941, the Foundation has been at the forefront of positive community change and charitable impact when the Stanley Works and New Britain Machine pooled $30,000 in gifts to begin what was then called the New Britain Foundation for Public Giving. The Foundation manages more than 200 charitable funds with a $53 million endowment, focused in areas such as early childhood education, the arts and health and human services.

Since 1968, the Friendship Service Center, a 501(c)(3) public charity with four locations in New Britain, CT, has been a place where the hungry are fed, the homeless are sheltered, and everyone is welcome.  The agency provides a continuum of services for men, women and children who are at risk or experiencing homelessness in Central Connecticut. Services range from an emergency shelter, to transitional living programs, permanent supportive housing options and the distribution of meals through its community kitchen.
