Bonnie D. Kumiega is a Shareholder of the Firm in the Hartford, Connecticut Office. Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Kumiega was the founder and principal of Bonnie D. Kumiega & Associates, LLC. Her practice focuses on commercial and residential real estate, real estate development, land use, zoning, finance and leasing and commercial lending, banking, general corporate, business law and business transactional representation, trusts and estates, business succession planning, probate law, and municipal law.
Attorney Kumiega represents closely held businesses and owners in corporate and business law matters, business disputes, mergers and acquisitions, asset and stock sales and purchases, redemptions, shareholder buy-sell agreements, corporate asset and real estate based financing, real estate development, land use, zoning, corporate and business formation, contract drafting and review, business succession planning, estate planning, wills and trusts, probate administration and probate litigation. She has extensive experience in federal, state, and municipal laws in real estate, commercial law, commercial litigation and creditors’ rights matters including bankruptcy, civil fraud, nondischargeability actions, replevins, workouts, foreclosures, foreclosure committee including municipal tax foreclosures, commercial and investment landlord - tenant matters. Attorney Kumiega has represented banks, other financial institutions, large corporations, closely held businesses and business owners in various areas of commercial transactional law and litigation in both Connecticut state and federal courts.
Prior to practicing law, Attorney Kumiega worked in the banking industry and as a registered lobbyist before the Connecticut General Assembly for a Connecticut bank.
Attorney Kumiega is actively involved in various professional and community associations. Ms. Kumiega has also served on boards and commissions throughout her career.
Attorney Kumiega currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Mansfield Downtown Partnership (2015- Present) and served on the Growth Task Force Committee. Attorney Kumiega is the Chair of the Mansfield Business and Professional Association (2015- Present).
Attorney Kumiega is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association and a member of the Business Law Section. She is also a member of the Tolland County Bar Association having served as a past President. Attorney Kumiega serves on the Board of Directors for the Tolland Chamber of Commerce, as an Ambassador to the North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, Windham Chamber of Commerce, and the Somers Rotary Club.
Attorney Kumiega received her J.D. from Western New England School of Law, and her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut.
