Daniel B. Fitzgerald, an associate in the Firm's Litigation Department, practices in the areas of sports and entertainment law, litigation and insurance.
Mr. Fitzgerald, Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association's Sports & Entertainment Law Section, provides counsel on sports and entertainment law issues including student-athlete issues, NCAA eligibility matters, coaching contracts, management agreements and literary contracts. Several of Mr. Fitzgerald's articles have been featured in leading sports law publications, including "Legal Issues in Collegiate Athletics" and "Sports Litigation Alert". He has also provided legal insight to the media on issues in the sports arena, discussing Michael Vick's legal predicament on WDRC 1080's "The Talk of Connecticut" with Dan Lovallo and Roger Clemens' testimony before Congress in the Hartford Courant interview entitled "Local Bar: Fitzgerald Provides His Opinion." In addition, Mr. Fitzgerald is the publisher and author of Connecticut Sports Law (www.ctsportslaw.com), Connecticut's first blog covering the intersection of sports and the law.
Mr. Fitzgerald also represents insurance companies in bad faith and unfair trade practice actions, and professionals, such as attorneys and accountants in malpractice actions. In addition, Mr. Fitzgerald has represented municipalities and private companies in complex litigation matters involving environmental contamination.
Mr. Fitzgerald is a member of the Sports Lawyers Association and National Football Foundation. He received his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law in Hartford, Connecticut and his B.A., cum laude in Politics from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut.
