Members of UKS recently assisted in the commissioning of an original oil portrait of Judge Alan H. W. Shiff, a member of the Connecticut Bankruptcy bench for over 30 years. UKS principal Thomas Gugliotti, who is the head of the Firm’s Creditor’s Rights practice, was co-chair of the Portrait and Reception Committee of the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. Principal Evan Goldstein is the current Vice Chair of the Section. In addition to arranging for the painting of Judge Shiff’s portrait, the Portrait Committee organized and arranged a gala reception for the unveiling of the portrait at the New Haven Lawn Club. The portrait and reception were funded by major contributions from a leadership group of law firms, including UKS as well as ticket sales to the reception event. Approximately 150 honored guests and members of the bar attended the reception.
The Connecticut Law Tribune has a story on the portrait and reception project, which can be seen by going to the web site included below. The article includes a color copy of Judge Shiff’s portrait, painted by Gerald York, the original of which will hang in the Bridgeport Courthouse where Judge Shiff presides.
